The Young Historians

Welcome! We are a group created to promote the historians of the future. We welcome applicants from all early-career historians. We aim to be a platform to share your work in a professional manner - ensuring every piece you write feels rewarding.

The Young Historians at Chalke History Festival

On Saturday May 28, Georgina, Harvey and Tom attended Chalke History Festival in Broad Chalke as part of the press and media team. Having worked with CHF on brainstorming ideas for how early career historians can come together, we looked forward to participating.

Personal highlights included the artillery display, attending the talks by Alice Loxton and Peter Kosminsky (director of Wolf Hall), and the jousting performance. We all especially enjoyed the ‘Chalke Introduces’ networking event in the evening, of which many young historians were invited to attend, mingle, and chat all things history. The night was wonderful, with many interesting and fruitful connections made – and ended at midnight with everyone, fittingly, dancing and singing along to ‘We’ll Meet Again’ performed by the D-Day Darlings. What’s a history festival without some Vera Lynn?

Until next year, Chalke! And enjoy our (not-so-good-quality) photos.
